Roles & Responsibilities

HR Manager - China

Armstrong Asia is looking for an experienced HR Manager to join the team. Partnering with the business at a Group strategic level, the incumbent will be a key team player in overseeing HR operations for China by providing support to our employees and maximising productivity and effectiveness. This role focuses on ensuring smooth execution of all HR processes for our employees throughout the employee life-cycle, which will encompass strategically reviewing and implementing company policies, and maintaining HR systems. You will be instrumental in providing HR advisory to managers across China. Ultimately, you will ensure our HR initiatives are cost-effective, smoothly run and contribute to a stellar work environment.

Under the HR analytics function, you will be leading strategic HR analyses on our current processes and derive action plans that enable business excellence from a people angle. An ideal candidate would be numbers driven and data-savvy, and is able to derive insights that correlate to HR organizational objectives.


  • Partner with business units to support the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding and provide stellar employee experience
  • Provide HR advisory to managers and employees through employee issues such as policy interpretation, investigations and compliance
  • Lead and drive HRIS migration project
  • Design and establish HR metrics dashboards to formulate HR data analysis and raise organizational capabilities
  • Oversee payroll, local tax, income or other required reporting and payments to local authorities
  • Actively review HR policies and processes to optimise efficiency and maintain compliance with changing local labour regulation, tax and reporting requirements
  • Facilitate international mobilities by coordination of expatriation and repatriation of employees according to company policies
  • Oversee staff medical and insurance matters, ensuring proper administration for contract renewal and insurance claims
  • Establish HR data collection structure across China
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources/ Business Administration.
  • At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in HR operations, ideally in a company with regional presence in China, and/or within the manufacturing industry
  • With a strong background in managing payroll, compensation & benefits, manpower planning and job evaluation, budgeting operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll administration and/or other HRMS
  • Familiarity with forecasting methods and data analysis
  • Displays agility and resourcefulness to be able to provide support across different HR functions
  • Excellent project management skills with a strong knack for data management
  • Has proven track record of managing complexities in a challenging environment
  • Strategic mindset to think beyond the operational activities and contribute to regional and global projects
