Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Sr People Operations Manager or Director, the People Operations Manager is responsible for providing support and guidance to both employees and managers related to HR policies and practices. This position is a local subject matter expert with respect to employment legislation and labor/union relations, and provides day-to-day support addressing HR related queries. The People Operations manager supports administrative activities associated with the employee lifecycle including but not limited to activities associated with local staffing additions/departures, health benefits communications, coaching related to performance management, and the reporting and investigation of policy (i.e. Code of Conduct, Harassment, etc.) or compliance violations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of HR Associates and Sr HR Associates.
  • Responsible for management of internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of end to end transactional administration activities associated with the employment cycle for all employees and managers.
  • Monitor the HR system to ensure quality of data and take steps to enhance where possible.
  • Monitor escalation of queries to improve People Operations service and support.
  • Contribute to the customer service delivery strategy with a view to improving performance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in the relevant area of expertise to support the wider HR People Operations Team
  • Ensure implementation and utilization of policies, procedures, and programs dealing with the specific HR activities.
  • Participate and deploy global Smiths HR initiatives and projects to support the achievement of HR People Operations objectives as well as proactively supporting continuous improvement initiatives in HR areas.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date employee information within the People Operations team.
  • Design, generate, and distribute queries, reports, and statistical summaries related to HR metrics
  • To undertake any project work relevant to the activities of the People Operation and appropriate to the grade, as requested by the HR Operations Manager.
  • Assist in the coordination of organizational changes and provide both administration and face-to-face support.
  • Ownership of projects on an ad-hoc basis that may often require engagement with a variety of HR teams.
  • Other responsibilities as required in the team (i.e. Payroll, Reward Support, etc.).

    Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 -7 years relevant working experience in as Operations Lead/Shared Service Lead or Senior Associate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high professional standards for customer service and work quality.
  • Knowledge and experience in technologies, tools and applications, such as ADP products, HRIS systems, SAP.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong foundation in HR practices, trends and HR Operations
  • Effective communicator with strong influencing skills
  • Ability to effectively engage senior stakeholders
  • Innovative and creative with the ability to think and act outside the box
  • Self-driven with a high level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of SAP HRMS preferred
  • Fluency in English is must
  • Bilingual or multilingual in relevant regional languages a strong plus
