Please share with us briefly what you do.

I am the CEO of a business that helps people find their dream job and organisations find their dream candidates, at scale and without the bias.


What were you doing before this?

I was CHRO of the largest digital company in Australia, the REA Group, otherwise known as


Describe your product. How does it work?

We are the first interview for our customers. We interview everyone to give a fair and equal chance to all candidates

Our customers get immediate recommendations of who to progress and who not to. We do that through a chatbot conversation on their mobile, tablet or desktop

And Candidates love it! We have an 89% candidate satisfaction rating and 95% completion rates

Who are your closest competitors?

Pymetrics and HIreVue who like us, use leading edge technology such as machine learning to make unbiased fast and accurate selection decisions.


Who was your first customer and how did that happen? What were they using before this, and why did they switch?

Our first customers and they continue to be a key customer segment today were recruitment firms hiring their own sales teams. Many bring in entry-level talent who may have had little work experience and no direct sales experience. Looking at CVs was, therefore, a waste of time. 


What they wanted to select their new hires on was a combination of traits and soft skills- drive and ambition to create their own opportunities, confidence and resilience to keep going in the face of a lot of rejection, self-awareness, and empathy to build trusted client relationships. There was no selection tool that could reliably fairly, and efficiently could identify that talent.  Most often, recruiters hired people in their own image, which creates the risk of a monoculture and not much diversity. 


By using our technology as the first filter, they reach the full talent pool, uncovering latent talent, and doing so way faster than the traditional methodology of rounds and rounds of interviews.  Cost and time to hire reduces by 80%+


What motivated you to start this business?

I am not the founder, but I live each day as if I was – the rollercoaster ride of working in a business that is at the forefront of shaping a whole new managing a critical business process.


As a business leader and HR leader, I have seen that Technology is the future of HR. I also know that the people you hire and the people you promote at the most important decisions you make as s business – your people enable your strategy; your leaders create your culture.  


I wanted to be part of a team that would help make smart people decisions without bias and 100x more efficiently.


What is your biggest sacrifice to make this work?

Sleep and personal time (I have 3 kids and there is no scale in parenting!)


How did you get funded?

A combination of investment by savvy individuals who can see that the opportunity to transform something that hasn’t changed in hundreds of years is significant and exciting.


What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Our Principal Data Scientist and his team wrote a whitepaper to explain Why and How AI led technology is the fairest way to make decisions about people. It dispelled a lot of the myths about AI and helped the HR community understand the different tools on the market and make more informed decisions about what to use. We give this away via our website, LinkedIn and to our network and it has generated a lot of interest in our technology.


Describe a typical workday

Up at 5 am for F45 . Work for an hour before kids wake up with my first cup of chai in hand. Once I’ve got the kids to school, ride to work, about 12 minute ride, and kick off what is usually a day of 40% meetings/calls with customers, 25% with my team reviewing key business metrics, reading all candidate and customer feedback,  25% product strategy sessions as our product is always evolving and will never end! 10% for everything else!


There is a lot to learn in a space like this so I am typically listening to a podcast on my favourite podcast channel on my commute (a16z), I usually spend the time before bed writing the next round of marketing communications, writing up case studies, speeches  ). In bed by 10pm


Who has been the greatest influence in your business and why?

Our customers especially the early adopters because they are the ones who trusted us with their most important decisions and inspired the rest of their teams and colleagues to believe in the power of AI to deliver better outcomes for people and the business. 


What has been your proudest moment in the history of your business and why?

Every day we see the data feed of candidates feedback from their interview with PredictiveHire and the comments are inspiring ..that they feel empowered, safe, relaxed- they can be themselves. The questions we ask and the whole user experience is a total transformation from the usual dull and tedious task of filling out a whole lot of forms online and getting little back.


What is your favourite business failure (and what did you learn from it)?

Daily/weekly learnings ( I don’t think in terms of failures)

I tend not to dwell for too long on them, better to look forward and not indulge in introspection. My kids and my team will always pull me up if I make the same mistake too many times.


If you could go back in time to speak to your 20-year-old self, what would you tell him/her?

Experience over study /degrees

Don’t overthink it, Just do it


What’s one productivity hack you can’t live without?

  • I WISH someone would create a tool that transcribes podcasts …that would save me a lot of time
  • Grocery shopping online
  • Hubspot meeting calendar- a lifesaver for managing my calendar.
